Rescued Baby Crow in Sangli, Maharasthra, India by Animal Rahat Team
On May 6, 2014 Mr. Sharad saw a baby crow at the corner of the Sangli –Miraj road. In no time the Sangli team came and observed the situation. Since the baby crow fell from tree, his parents were crying very loudly. The Animal Rahat team saw that the birds’ nest was on a branch of the tree, but it was situated quite high up and out of reach. Their veterinarian took the baby bird inside the ambulance very gently to avoid fear and distress. They gave him water, examined him, and found no injuries, and so set out to place the baby bird on the same tree.
They tied a rope to the tree and made knots in it for climbing. As it was quite difficult to reach the nest, they brought out a cardboard box to place the baby bird on the tree branch. The team administered a few drops of multivitamin to him, and then climbed up the tree with the box, which had a towel and some smooth tree leaves in it.
They then tied the box to the tree branch, and put the baby bird very gently into a bucket. A rope was attached to the bucket, and they slowly raised it to where the box was fixed. Then the baby bird was placed very gently in side the box.
The next day the team followed up and observed the parents, who were with the baby crow. The box was too small, however, so it replaced it with a bigger one. A successful rescue!
